Home Preparation

- 3 Blankets and emergency kit
- 4 Avoid travel when icy

- 4 Never use grills indoors, or ovens to provide heat.
POWER OUTAGE - QUICK ACTION STEPS
Use this page if you lose power during an ice storm.
Immediately
- 1 Confirm outage source (check neighborhood)
- 2 Unplug sensitive electronics and computers
- 3 Turn off stove, space heaters, and appliances
- 4 Switch to flashlights (no candles)
First 1-2 Hours
- 1 Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed
- 2 Layer clothing and use blankets
- 3 Select one room to conserve heat
- 4 Check on elderly neighbors (phone/text)
Heating & Safety
- 1 Never use grills, ovens, or propane heaters indoors
